Tweede Nuwe Jaar
Tweede Nuwe Jaar happens on the 2nd of January each year. However, in 2020 the Cape Tow Street Parade will take place on Saturday 4th January. It is one of the biggest events in the city, attracting hundreds of performers and thousands of spectators. Performers, known as the Kaapse Klopse, don colourful suits, face-paint, hats, and parasols. They strut their stuff through the streets, with brass instruments and drums, in the traditional ghoema musical style. The center of Cape Town becomes a huge street party for the day.

Imagine – College of Magic
This show is packed full of wow moments, colour, energy, juggling, comedy and whole lots of fun. Entertainment for the whole family, enjoy a diverse group of young performers who show off their talents and exceptional skills to the delight of the audience.
When: 2 – 8 January
South Africa VS England – Test
The English cricket team is currently touring South Africa from December 2019 to February 2020 to play four tests. They will be doing three One Day Internationals and 3 Twenty20 International matches. The test series they participating in forms part of the inaugural 2019-20 ICC World Test Championship. South Africa VS England at Newlands Cricket Club on the 3 January 2020 for the 2nd test match.

Timo ODV, Kyle Cassim, Dean Fuel & Strange Loving at Shimmy Beach Club
Rogue Wave ends off a busy festival season as they go into a new year with arguably their best line-up yet including some of South Africa’s favourite chart-toppers to perform at the event. Summer Sound System is kicking off 2020 in a big way with a full showcase of fire starting smash hit artists at one of the world’s best venues in one of the world’s best cities.

Jimmy Nevis, Craig Lucas & Paxton Fielies at Kirstenbosch Concerts
November every year marks the start of the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts. The event is a summer staple in Cape Town and makes for some of the best evenings you can possibly have in the mother city. The concerts attract a large and diverse crowd with the music being is as diverse as the crowd. The summer concerts incorporate picnic-style seating.

Jazzathon at the V&A Waterfront
Don’t miss the famous Cape Town Jazzathon and its fabulous artists who will be performing at the waterfront. The Jazzathon returns to the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre which has become a landmark event for Cape Town and takes place every year.

L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival 2020
L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate has become South Africa’s first-ever multi-day Racing Festival, The event is held over a Friday and Saturday with the main L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate race being held on Saturday. Various hospitality options will once again be available over both race days, including the much anticipated Garden Party being held on Friday, the 10th of January.

The ABBA Show Cape Town 2020
The ABBA Show is a full-scale theatrical production featuring 2.5 hours of live musical performances featuring a live backing band. Replica costumes, theatrical lighting and effects and all the dancing an ABBA fan can handle so be sure not to miss this event at Grand Arena Grandwest Casino and Entertainment World.

Classic Car & Bike Show
Come and join the 20th Annual Classic Car & Bike Show hosted by Timour Hall Villa. A wonderful display of vehicles and engines hosted over two days. For all car lovers and anyone interested in seeing these classic cars are welcome to attend.

Galileo Open Air Cinema – Movies
The Galileo Open Air Cinema welcomes you to a magical movie experience of cinematic delights, tantalising treats and breath-taking scenery under a canopy of stars. At The Galileo, when the sun sets the stars really come out, with a glittering line-up of romantic comedies, cult classics, musicals, adventure sports and documentaries that let you cuddle up and be entertained. Habitat for Humanity Cyclathon
Habitat for Humanity’s Cyclathon is an annual 25- hour fundraiser hosted by school pupils. Live bands perform, a raffle is held every hour and stationary bikes are cycled on in order to raise money that is then donated to Habitat for Humanity.
When: 24 – 25 January
Festival of Rebels 2020 – Motorcycle Lifestyle Festival
The event is much more than your typical Bike Festival. It is a celebration of all things powered by a piston.
